The Essential Resources for Running Your Business
Todd Heitner
How important you think it is to have exercise and taking care of your physical health when it comes to running a business?
Ellie Perlman
Tremendously important. I try to run maybe twice a week. I used to go to the gym or do pilates or something every, I would say four to five times a week. It’s hard to make the time, but it does keep you focused. It lowers your stress levels because every business owner doesn’t matter how well the business is going, you’re still going to be stressed out unless you’re superhuman. And in that case, I want to know what your secret. But yeah, it’s extremely important because when you’re not taking care of your health, you’re less focused, you’re less productive, your team feels it. And then what’s the point? What’s the point of really having a successful business if your health is deteriorating, if you know when you’re going to get to the age of 70, you won’t be able to walk straight? I mean, what’s the point of all of this? For me, it’s allowing me to live a certain lifestyle where I have time to spend with the people that I love, that I can take trips. I don’t have to worry about the next check, where it’s coming from and, you know, don’t have that discomfort. And health is a big part of it. So if you do all that, you can be the richest person in the world and your health is not going to be great. For me, it’s just not worth it.

Yeah, you’re not going to enjoy it. So yeah, yeah, I found that to be true to having that having some consistent exercise helps you to be a lot more productive. I get a lot more done. Yeah. Which in the long run you’re going to get more done. So does it make sense to sacrifice that for short term?
Ellie Perlman
Getting very true.
